Personal Loan for Employees of Non-Listed Companies in the UAE

What non-listed means, what banks ask for, and how to improve your chances.

If your employer is not on a bank's approved list, a personal loan application works differently. This guide explains what "non-listed" means, what banks typically ask for, and how to improve your chances.

Short answer: A non-listed company is an employer that is not on a bank's approved company list. Banks usually set a higher minimum salary for these employees: Mashreq's published debt consolidation terms, for example, list AED 5,000 for approved companies and AED 8,000 for unapproved ones. Requirements differ by bank, and a company can be listed at one bank and not at another.

What does "non-listed company" mean?

UAE banks keep their own lists of approved employers. If your company is on a bank's list, you are in a more favourable category for that bank. If it is not, you are a "non-listed" or "unapproved" company employee for that bank. The same company can be listed at one bank and not at another, so a refusal at one bank says little about the next.

Why banks treat non-listed employees differently

A bank's list typically works as a shortcut for employer risk. For an employee of a company the bank does not have on its list, it usually asks for more evidence: often a higher minimum salary and full documentation, and sometimes different pricing or limits. Policies differ by bank, so ask each one.

What to expect: salary and documents

Minimum salaries are set bank by bank and change over time. As one published example, Mashreq's debt consolidation loan page, checked on 18 October 2026, lists a minimum salary of AED 5,000 for approved companies and AED 8,000 for unapproved companies. Our personal loan guide describes the general pattern for other banks.

  • Emirates ID and passport with the residence visa page.
  • A salary certificate or salary transfer letter. See our guide with samples.
  • 3-6 months of bank statements showing salary credits.
  • A clean AECB report. See how to check and improve it.
  • Room under the 50% limit on total repayments. Check yours with the DBR calculator.

How to improve your chances

  1. Ask each bank whether your employer is on its list before you apply, so you do not collect refusals.
  2. Apply first where your employer is listed.
  3. Build a record of salary credits in the account you will borrow from.
  4. Lower your existing debt if you are close to the 50% cap. See debt consolidation, buyout and settlement.
  5. Get your documents ready and consistent before the application.

What to avoid

  • Loan apps and agents that ask for an advance fee or promise approval whatever your salary. See our guide to instant loans and loan apps.
  • Applying to many banks at once. Each application leaves a mark on your credit report.

Frequently asked questions

What is a non-listed company in the UAE?

A non-listed company is an employer that is not on a bank's approved company list. Banks keep their own lists and use them to set the minimum salary and sometimes the rate, so a company can be listed at one bank and not at another.

Can I get a personal loan if my company is not listed?

Often yes, but banks usually ask for a higher minimum salary and full documents. Mashreq's published debt consolidation terms, for example, list AED 5,000 for approved companies and AED 8,000 for unapproved companies.

What is the minimum salary for a personal loan in the UAE?

It differs by bank, product and employer category. Mashreq publishes AED 5,000 for approved companies and AED 8,000 for unapproved companies on its debt consolidation loan page. Check each bank's current minimum before you apply.

Do I need to transfer my salary?

Many salary-linked loans require it. Some banks lend without a salary transfer, usually with stricter terms. See our personal loan guide for how the two compare.

Which documents do I need?

Typically your Emirates ID, passport with the residence visa page, a salary certificate or salary transfer letter, and 3-6 months of bank statements. The bank also checks your AECB report.

How can I check if my employer is on a bank's list?

Ask the bank or its relationship manager, or check its published eligibility criteria. The lists are the bank's own and can change.
